What is the Express Entry system, and how does it work?

Express Entry is an online system used by the Canadian government to manage applications for permanent residence from skilled workers. Once you create a profile and meet the eligibility criteria, you are entered into a pool of candidates. Your profile is then ranked using a points-based system known as the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Higher-ranking candidates are invited to apply for permanent residence.
